A Year Long Exposure

2011-2012

12 month duration [or longer] exposures were made using a piece of 5" x 7" photographic paper inserted inside a pinhole camera made from a beer can. They were then fixed into a static position on the roof of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery during the scheduled building works of 2010-2013.

Exposures were made between July 2011 & July 2012.

The paper was then removed and scanned without the use of developer.

The resulting images capture the passage of the sun across the southern sky many times over, from its high point in the sky during the summer solstice to its lowest passage during the winter solstice.

Thanks to BMT and all other staff for assisting in the project.
