Pacha Kuti I

1999 - 2003

The Underground.

An exploration of 17th-20th century urban dystopias, myth and concepts of apocalypse. Pacha Kuti is underground landscape photography depicting hidden and sometimes classified underground environments. An investigation of the lesser-known sub-infrastructure of the city. Work from this series won the first prize at the Birmingham Open Art Exhibition held at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in 2007. Exhibited at the Arles International Photography Festival in France the same year.

The name 'Pacha Kuti' or pachacuti refers to an Inca apocalypse legend, a time of duality and change and roughly translates as 'the time when the world will turn upside down'
